Notes for Mary HOLDREGE
• Some records lists her last name as “HOLDRIDGE”
Notes for Edward Augustus (Spouse 1)
• Moved to Nebraska when he was 7.
• He also went by the name “Ted”
• He was registered for the Draft during WWI
• It’s said Holyoke Colorado was named after Edward, his father-in-law G.W. Holdrege was the Burlington railroad system general manager and he named the railyard / station Holyoke, which the town sprung up around. Unfortunately, this is not the case … he didn’t become George’s son-in-law until 1907 and the town was incorporated in 1887.
• In 1920 his father-in-law sold the ranch and Edward went on to manage the 6,000 acre H.O. Ranch near Chadron, NE.
• All his children were born on the ranch.
• There is a newspaper article from 1900 that mentions a city physician by the name of Holyoke, not sure which Holyoke this could be in this family.
