Notes for Thomas Gannett (Spouse 1)
• Some records list his birthdate as in 1876 and his birth place as Saint Paul, MN., both of which are incorrect.

• Also, many records lists his middle initial as “C”.

• In 1880 he lived with his father in Medford, Middlesex, MA.

• He was briefly a student in Paris

• He came to St. Paul to live with his sister in 1877 and remained there till his death in 1925

• During 1884 - 1891 and then again from 1896 to 1899, he worked for Gilbert & Taylor as a draughtsman (draftsman, architect), located on 409 Laurel Avenue, St. Paul, MN .

• During his time with Gilbert, Thomas was considered to be Cass’ chief draftsman and protégé … he was the chief draftsman n the design of the Minnesota State Capital building

• Holyoke became Gilbert's partner in 1892 and in 1899, Thomas carried on an independent practice (Holyoke, Jemne & Davis), sharing Gilbert’s St. Paul office until 1910 with speculations that Thomas covered some aspects of Gilbert’s dwindling practice.[S:201]

• From Edwin Lundie; “... indoctrination and education in design and architecture such as I had from these three men – Cass Gilbert (Prominent architect, an early proponent of skyscrapers, the architect of the Woolworth Building in New York.), Thomas Holyoke, and Emmanuel Louis Masqueray (the designer of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis in 1904)

• They’re some stories that Holyoke, MN is somehow associated with Thomas, but I’ve been unable to confirm that connection.

• Interestingly, he and his mother lived in MN and they are ‘boardered’ with the William Davis family, who happened to have a son by the name of “Holyoke Davis, born in 1882.” William Davis is Thomas’ uncle.
