• He and Anne reportedly had 12 children

• At the age of 16, entered Queen’s college in Oxford, got his BA in July 5, 1636 and his Master’s degree on May 16, 1639 … and became the Chaplain of the college.

• During the Civil War where Oxford was the seat of King Charles, he was commissioned as a Captain of a foot company, consisting mostly of scholars. As a result of his post, he was conferred the of Doctor of Divinity …

• He obtained a license from the university to practice physics.

• Thomas is also associated with Lord Brooke … His cousin (?) Edward Holyoke was an agent for Lord Brooke

• In 1660 Thomas Lord Leigh, Baron of Whitnase near Warwick, presented him to the rectory of Whitnash. He was soon made Prebendary (senior member of clergy) of the collegiate church of Wolverhanpton in Staffordshire.

• In 1684, Robert, Lord Brook conferred upon him the Donative (a special gift or donation) of Breamour in Hampshire.

• Wrote the first edition of the English–Latin dictionary, accompanied by a Latin-based etymology incorporating Greek and Hebrew, and concluding with a section on proper names. Thomas’ book was an expansion of his father’s published book entitled Dictionarie Etymologicall. Thomas enlarged his father’s work greatly, but passed away before finishing his own version, which was later completed and published by his son Charles, with the main title-page noting “the great Pains and many years Study” of the middle Holyoke.
