• He went to teachers college in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada and taught school for several years in different places including Primate, Drinkwater and Wood Mountain.
• He worked as a rural municipal administrator in Flaxcombe in the early 1940's and took classes to obtain the necessary certificates of qualification, eventually obtaining the advanced Superior "A" Certificate. He continued to do this type of work in various places including Morse, Spring Valley and Estevan until his retirement in 1977.
