• Enlisted as a Private in Company C, 32nd Infantry Regiment Massachusetts on 15 November 1861 at the age of 23.
• Promoted to Full Hospital Steward on 29 June 1865 and Mustered out on 29 June 1865.
• In 1880 he was living in Hudson, Middlesex, MA working in a shoe factory
