• He became a construction engineer who moved to Kingsport, TN (some records erronously say KY) to build a textile mill.
• He was very active in public affairs n Kingsport, serving as alderman, acting City Manager and then elected the mayor - City of Kingsport, Kingsport, TN (1935 - 1939). At the time of his death he was the Director of Public Works.
