Notes for Frank Herbert HOLYOKE
• In 1880 he is said to live in Bangor, Penobscot, ME; his name is recorded as Fred C. HOLYOKE in the census record. His wife is recorded as Charlotte fron Nova Scotia. His occupation in the census is “lumber.” The record also lists Harry as his son.

• There are records for a Frank H. HOLYOKE residing in Brewer, ME from 1882 through 1892. His occupation is listed as “Ship Knees and Spar Dealer” for the “F.H. HOLYOKE & Co.”

• After the divorce with Charlotte, he took Harry Douglas with him to California.

• He did move to LA with Cora, but then he accused her of infidelity ... having an affair with their chauffeur.

• Four years after his death, his will was finally settled ... 60% of the remaining estate (after the $80,000 public bequeathed) went to his nieces, Madeline & Marjorie Holyoke. His son's (Sidney A and Harry A Holyoke, and Frank's Widow (Cora) contested the will, split the remainder of the estate equally. This whole law suit was a big messy affair ... in one case ending up in the Maine Supreme Court on the issue of domicile of Frank Holyoke ... basically, which court (California or Maine) has the jurisdiction to probate his will. This court case was followed closely and was reported in a number of publications.

• Frank was quite wealthy. 4 years after his death, in 1916, his estate donated $3975 to the library in Brewer, ME.

• Some records record his death as 10/04/1911, however his tombstone states it as 10/03/1911.
